Our Visit to the Skansen Museum

I let the kids miss a day of school last week so that they could visit a popular outdoor museum with Didi and I, known as Skansen. Skansen is like a miniature Sweden. There are numerous historical buildings and homes, a zoo featuring Scandinavian animals and craftsmen making pottery and blowing glass. It was pretty quiet there that day, we bumped into a couple of school groups but that was about it. In the warmer months, I guess it is just "hopping"!

The kids seemed to enjoy watching the bears the most. There was a mother bear and her three cubs, and they were very active. I must say, the bear cubs were very attentive to their mother...everywhere she went, they followed close behind. We especially enjoyed one cub that was acting in a very curious manner by standing up on his hind legs to look up at the people surrounding his enclosure.

We enjoyed watching the glassblower practise his trade, and sampling the delicious wares of the baker! We stayed until we had spent all of our loose change on parking. We plan on returning on a warmer day, with Kris, to explore some more.
